The race was amazing. Chicago is beautiful. But it was HOT (early morning forecasts predicted 81--they were a little off)! Some estimates were as high as 88 degrees at noon (we crossed the finish line around 1:20 pm). Last year they canceled the race due to the 85 degree heat. Nobody died this year, though, and the aid stations didn't run out of water.
So, our time was a little off what I wanted it to be (5h10min) due to a bathroom stop, a bum heel, and some intense heat. But we survived and had a fairly good time in the process :). Thanks J. for sacrificing a PR to run with me. It was for the most part a great time!
So here are the video clips of the race . . . courtesy official race documenter, J.

you are OFFICIALLY my heroes. and you must let me make you a carb-loaded dinner upon your return.
side note: my brother gave me a black eye when i was a kid by hitting the end of a kaleidoscope while i was looking into it. kate, i think you showed remarkable restraint when the camera was trained on you—i can't imagine patience was in great supply.
it sounds like you rocked your socks. now go have a cocktail, stat!
ha! Luckily the volume on the camera didn't pick up a few snide comments I made about turning the bleep thing off. J. was intent on creating his documentary . . . which should be accompanied with motion sickness medication.
A carb-loaded dinner sounds fabulous :)!
And we're headed for Margaritas tonight!
Other than sleeping, I cannot imagine doing anything for 5 hours straight, especially running!!! Very impressive!
